~ One Step Closer ~

Bring me one step closer Lord, this cross is hard to bear
Remove this crown of thorns, I have no need to share.
Pardon all my foes, my blood will wash their sin,
For those who hear the truth, their hearts I will win.
Proclaim me *King of Kings*, in these final hours,
Soon the world will behold the scope of all my powers.
One step closer Lord, at Golgotha my fate is sealed,
The pain will hold me captive but my spirit will not need to be healed.
Stretched up on the cross, a sacrificial lamb,
Innocent by nature yet condemned for who I am.
My thirst will soon be quenched, as My Father greets his Son,
One final human breath ~ at last thy will is done.
On the dawn of Resurrection, the angels proclaim with glee,
"He lives, He lives ~ Come inside and see..."

Come to me, one step closer, I will guide your way
Trust in me, take one step closer, I am the light each day.
Walk with me, one step closer, together we seek God's will,
Reach for me, one step closer, God's promises to fulfill.
Endure for me, one step closer, I will ease your pain,
Have faith in me, take one step closer, "I live, I live" proclaim.

Footprints In My Mind

I have been this way before, drawn to the sanctity of time
Impressions on the sand; Footprints in my mind

My tears fell like rain and as I watched them slash onto the ground
They shattered into oblivion, disappearing, never to be found
Like the salty sea of emotion streaming down my face
A trail to plot my journey in this never-ending race.

I have been this way before, the scars are just a dulling ache
Footprints in my mind; I am strong, I will not break.

My smiles brighten the darkness, on the loneliest of nights
Casting shadows behind me, dancing in the fading lights
Like a lantern on the ocean, mirroring a yellow glow
A ship slowly passing, sailing beyond the shores of woe.

I have been this way before, the times are worn with age
Footprints in my mind; a book of seasons fill every page.

My heart sings the love songs, melodies of sunny skies
The symphony of life; a cantata filled with lows and highs
Like a haunting harmony of voices, cascading over a waterfall
To drift gently on the river, serenity for one and all.

I have been this way before, the rainbows color my way.

Every Kiss, Every Touch

Someday when I'm free
and the stars forever shine
I'll gaze into the crystal glass
the gentle reflection that's mine.

Every kiss, every touch, recorded
will be like vintage wine
Each one, hand selected
from the overflowing vine.

Passing through the bridges
the darkness held me briefly
Light on each end of the tunnel
is all my eyes could see.

Every kiss, every touch recorded
held the strength that suspended me
Traveling to the other side
suddenly I'm free.

I captured the golden kiss of the sun
I felt the touch of each warm tear
I held the caress of a summers breeze
I saw the vision that has fought the fear.

It's time to dance like a candle's flame
each kiss, each touch held me so near
It was a time for the music to play
the rhythm in the heart, I hear.
